You know those moments where you feel you are just going to go NUTS if you don’t get a break? Totally lose your mind?
And soon?
Everyone wants a piece of you, you haven’t spoken to anyone over three foot tall since … well, you can’t remember when … you’re tired, you’re stressed and you feel like the worst mum in the world.
You used to be energetic and fun loving. You used to have a social life. You used to be fun to be around.
Now, you just feel like a grumpy ogre … like you’re yelling and screaming all the time.
Mostly , you’re screaming “Just gimme a break!”
You just want a moment of fun; no responsibilities, no worries, no need to think about anything of for anyone.
Imagine this … you get to spend a few hours amongst some fun, likeminded and amazing women.
There are no kids.
You get to sit … and stay seated! Whilst someone asks you what you would like to eat and drink. Then they bring it to you!
You engage in conversations with other adults. You laugh so much you’re not sure your pelvic floor can take much more. And yes … YES, you are still sitting down and no one has asked you to get something for them.
Suddenly, you are overcome by a strange feeling. What is it? You recall it, but can’t quite remember what it is …
That’s it! FUN – yes, you are having FUN!
Go home, relaxed, rejuvenated, smiling and with a very special gift, just for you.
We don’t just tell you you need the break. We don’t give you tips and tricks on how to get some time to yourself. We don’t even entertain the idea of showing you where and how you can take some time for you.
We facilitate it!
Mental Health Moments created by Real Mums for Real Mums ~ we get it!
What are you doing for your Mental Health?
Mental Health Moments are hosted four times a year, roughly every three months, because we know you’re incredibly busy and whilst a monthly dinner or outing sounds like a bloody brilliant idea, and you’d just love to be able to do this, it’s just not possible.
We make it possible for you!
Currently, our events are held in Victoria only, but we can easily be persuaded to host them in other states. Please Contact Us and forward several dozen bottles of sauvignon blanc in large cardboard boxes, usually referred to as “cases of wine”.
Mums’ Night Out! was conceived in 2003 by Amanda Cox, after embarking on a shopping trip with her then toddler and newborn and having a tantrum mid-shopping trip.
She determined she was in great need of a break. A tragic child of the 1980s and refusing to grow up she reatins a fondness for the music of the era – but not the dress code! She also loves a great night out, but couldn’t face letting her hair down at currently available night spots. Apart from them just getting into the swing of things at well past her bedtime, she has 4 males at home who grope her on a regular basis – she didn’t really want to go out for further groping.
So, she created a night for all Mums to dress up a bit, and get together in a fun, SAFE environment, eat good food (without having to share), drink good wine (without having to share) and to dance around their handbags to 80′s music. And not just 80′s either, but all kinds of danceable-to music.
Running since 2003, Mums’ Night Out! has also supported a number of charities that support women, including PaNDa, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Women’s Domestic Violence Crisis Service and Habitat For Humanity (after the Black Saturday bushfires).
Mental Health Moments evolved from this, and errupted over a delicious breakfast, away from the family and house, with one of her bestest friends, who came up with the name in the first place. Whilst Mums’ Night Out! is THE event of the year, Real Mums organises several opportunities throughout the year to give you a break; no being talked at, no catches, just pure, unadulterated fun, socialising and being wined, dined and spoilt.
Aside from being a mum to 3 boys and a wife, and planner of awesome events for mums, Amanda is also a writer, author, speaker and the founder of reality parenting website Real Mums and Australia’s safe haven for mums, Bad Mother’s Club, and cleaner of Weet Bix.
Mental Health Moments and Mums Night Out! events are organised, hosted and sponsored by Real Mums and Bad Mother’s Club
